My Dad used to take me to baseball games when I was a child and told me stories of the great hitters of the past. I am almost 82 years old now and as a native New Yorker, I followed the local teams of The Brooklyn Dodgers and The Yankees. Babe Ruth was always a hero to me so it was a great opportunity to get an autographed baseball from The Babe through a business colleague who visited a company near where my father worked on Wall Street. The ball was signed “To My Friend Sonny Donegan, From Babe Ruth.” Sonny was my childhood nickname and I was about 7 years old when Babe signed in the ball in 1933. It is a cherished possession of mine.
