Planned gifts to the Museum of Science have benefits that last a lifetime — and beyond — for both the Museum and its donors.

When you include the Museum in planning your estate, you may be able to reduce your tax burden, increase your income, and create a legacy for your family.

In addition, the Museum recognizes its legacy donors through The Washburn Society.

There are a number of gift planning options, from a bequest in your will to life-income gifts, which provide you with income for a period of time before the Museum may use your gift. The best plan for you will balance your charitable and financial goals while supporting the legacy of the Museum of Science.

The Museum of Science is recognized by the IRS and the State of Massachusetts as a nonprofit organization. Gifts of all denominations are welcomed at any time, and may include cash, securities, and other gifts. Unrestricted contributions may be made in any amount, and are tax-deductible to the extent the law allows.

  • The Museum of Science is an independent, nonprofit institution funded by individuals like you, corporations, foundations, and government agencies.

  • The Museum is the nation's first science center to be accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Its live animal collection comprises some 120 animals of 50 species.

  • With 1.5 million visitors coming through its doors each year, the Museum is Boston's second most popular destination; only the Red Sox draw bigger crowds.
